Ready or not, Christmas is less than a week away! A while back I shared about how our family planned to Simplify Holiday Gift Giving this year. We stuck to 5 “themes” this year as we shopped for our daughter Quinn. Not only did this help us exercise a little self control, but it helped us stick to our budget as well.
Though there are many options out there for toddler gifts, it can be hard to decide where to even begin. Many people have asked what we are getting for Quinn, so I thought I would give a quick run down.
Something to wear– We got Quinn a cute “Cbus” t-shirt form Craft Owl Designs. However, there are loads of local shops to support while keeping your little one stylish so check out Etsy or a local craft fair!
Something to read– Maya Angelou (Little People, Big Dreams) is part of the Little People, Big Dreams series which focuses on women throughout history that have blazed trails and changed the world by chasing their dreams! I can’t wait to share with Quinn the power that one woman can have on her community!
Something she wants– Quinn’s big ticket item is her KidKraft Kids Kitchen. We purchased it months ago using Bid FTA, an online auction site. It meant we had to go pick it up across town, but it also meant that we saved over 50% of the retail price. With what we saved we were able to throw in a few extras to stock the shelves of her little refrigerator. Some great options for play food include Learning Resources Farmer’s Market Color Sorting Set and wooden play food from Melissa & Doug. We also found a cheaper alternative for wooden play food at our local Aldi for 1/4 of the price.
Something she needs– We purchased the Summer Infant Lil’ Loo Potty and Gimars Folding Portable Reusable Toilet Potty Training Seat. Quinn has been showing interest in the “potty” so we wanted to be prepared whenever we decide it is the right time. We bought the training potty and then the foldable potty to throw in the diaper bag and take on the go. I was so excited to find one that was so inconspicuous and portable!
Something to do– Ikea just recently came to Columbus and we couldn’t be happier! We got Q Ikea kid’s paints, brushes, smock, paper and paper roll. They make the perfect set for any little budding artist! Quinn is just beginning to enjoy painting, so we can’t wait to watch her create and discover with these new tools!

I purchased many of Q’s on Amazon due to time and savings. However some items listed I was able to find at our local Aldi, Walmart and even Dollar Tree for significantly less, allowing us to save even more money! I am about the bargain more than the name brand, which helps us stick to a tighter budget when shopping! This is by no means an exhaustive list, but hopefully this helps as you round out your Christmas shopping this year. Merry Christmas!
